The Castle of Moncalieri is one of the most ancient Savoy residences.
It was built not far from Turin, to guard the Po: still today it stands there in all its calm monumentality.
A VISIT TO THE CASTLE OF MONCALIERI
Built in medieval times for defensive purposes, it was transformed by the Savoys into a "place of delights" following numerous extensions and embellishments.
Much loved by the female characters of the House of Savoy, such as Queen Maria Adelaide and the princesses Clotilde and Letizia, the castle was a place of stay, a place of education for young princes and the theatre of sensational events: fragments of history and family memories still hover in the royal flats, connected to the vast park that extends over the hill.
